Tilting Coating Pan

Tilting Coating Pan (also known as a Masala Mixer or Flavoring Machine) is a essential post-frying unit used to apply spices, seasonings, and oil-based slurries uniformly onto snacks like potato chips, namkeen, peanuts, and fryums.

The "Tilting" feature is critical for the easy unloading of the finished batch and for fast cleaning between different flavors.

2. Design Variants

  • Round Pan (Traditional): Best for delicate items like potato chips; the smooth curve prevents breakage.
  • Octagonal Pan (8-sided): The "angles" in the pan help lift and tumble the product more aggressively, ensuring that spices reach every corner of irregular shapes like Gathiya or Kurkure.
  • Coating Pan with Blower: Includes a hot/cold air blower to help the seasoning stick better or to dry the product if a liquid slurry is used.

3. Key Operational Benefits

  • Uniform Seasoning: The continuous tumbling action ensures every single piece of the snack is coated evenly, reducing spice wastage by up to 20–30% compared to hand mixing.
  • Adjustable Angle: You can change the tilt of the pan during the process. A steeper angle provides more aggressive mixing, while a shallow angle is gentler on fragile snacks.
  • Hygienic Unloading: Once the coating is complete, you simply turn a wheel or press a button to tilt the pan 90° or more, dropping the product directly into a crate or conveyor.
  • Low Noise & Maintenance: Since these machines operate at low speeds using gearboxes, they are very quiet and require only basic greasing of the gears.

4. Optional Attachments

For a fully automatic experience, you can add:

  1. Slurry Spray System: A small tank and pump with a nozzle to spray oil or liquid flavors onto the snacks while they tumble.
  2. Powder Doser: A vibratory feeder that drops a precise amount of dry masala per minute.
  3. VFD (Variable Frequency Drive): Allows you to slow down the pan for fragile chips and speed it up for heavy items like coated peanuts.
