Batch Type Frying Machine (Diesel Fired)
A Rectangular Batch
Fryer (30 inch 54 inch 12 inches size) is a standard industrial workhorse for
frying namkeen, potato chips, and snacks. This specific size—roughly $4.5
\times 2.5$ feet—is highly preferred in Ahmedabad because it balances high
production capacity with fuel efficiency.

Consumption & Economics
In the current
energy market, diesel-fired fryers are preferred over electric for large-scale
production due to faster heating times and lower running costs.
- Diesel Consumption: Approximately 3.5 to
5.0 Liters per hour (varies based on product load).
- Heating Speed: Reaches frying temperature
($180^{\circ}\text{C}$) in roughly 15–20 minutes.
- Auto-Cutoff: Modern diesel burners are
connected to a Digital Temperature Controller. Once the oil hits your set
temperature, the burner stops automatically to save fuel and prevent oil
burning.
3. Design Variants
for this Size
- Direct Heat Model: The diesel burner is
placed directly under the rectangular pan. This is cheaper to buy and
compact in size.
- Inbuilt Heat Exchanger (Highly
Recommended): The oil is heated inside tubes and circulated. This prevents
"hot spots," reduces oil degradation, and can save up to 30% in
fuel costs.
- Tilting Model: The pan is mounted on a
pivot. Once the batch is done, you can tilt the entire pan to unload the
product instantly into a collection tray.
4. Key Advantages
- Uniform Frying: The rectangular shape
allows for better "raking" or "stiring" of products
like Sev or Gathiya compared to a round kadai.
- Insulation: The outer body is insulated
with Ceramic Wool, which ensures the heat stays in the oil and the factory
environment remains cool for the workers.
- Chimney System: These machines come with a
dedicated 6-inch exhaust pipe to vent out diesel fumes and smoke, keeping
the food hygienic.
