Roast Grain Cooling Machine
After roasting, grains (like Chana, Peanuts, Millets, or Corn) reach
temperatures of 150°C to 200°C. A Roast Grain Cooling Machine is critical
because if you pack or store hot grains immediately, they will lose their
crunch (sweat) and the residual heat will continue to cook the grain, leading
to a burnt taste.
there are two primary types of cooling systems: Integrated (part of the
roaster) and Stand-alone (dedicated cooling unit).
1. Types of Roast Grain Cooling Machines
A. Vibratory Cooling Conveyor (Best for Large Scale)
Hot grains move along a vibrating stainless steel bed while
high-velocity ambient air is blown from underneath.
- Mechanism:
Fluidized bed effect (grains "float" in the air for maximum
surface exposure).
- Cooling Time: 10–30
minutes.
- Capacity: 500
kg/hr to 5,000 kg/hr.
B. Circular Cooling Bin (Best for Batch/Small Scale)
A circular tank with a perforated bottom and a rotating arm (agitator)
that stirs the grain while a centrifugal fan sucks heat out.
- Mechanism: Forced
air suction/blowing.
- Cooling Time: 5–15
minutes.
C. Vertical Column Cooler
Grains fall through a series of zig-zag baffles while cool air passes
through them.
- Best for: Pulses
and small grains (Soybean, Maize).
- Benefit:
Space-saving (vertical footprint).

4. Key Considerations for Your Setup
- Aspiration
System: When cooling roasted grains (especially Chana or Peanuts), the
skin often peels off. Ensure your cooler has a Cyclone/Aspirator to suck
away these skins so your final product is clean.
- Ambient vs.
Chilled Air: For standard snacks, ambient (outside) air is enough. If you
are in a very humid area (like coastal regions), you may need a
"Grain Chiller" which dehumidifies the air to prevent the
roasted
